Net Neutrality - Info You Need

I'm guessing most of us have at least heard the term, "Net Neutrality" by now, but if you're still unclear of what it is and what it means for folks like you and I (as opposed to big-moneyed big business), here's a darn good definition from an excellent site:

"What is Network Neutrality?

Network Neutrality — or "Net Neutrality" for short — is the guiding principle that preserves the free and open Internet.

What is this about?

This is about Internet freedom. "Network Neutrality" -- the First Amendment of the Internet -- ensures that the public can view the smallest blog just as easily as the largest corporate Web site by preventing Internet companies like AT&T from rigging the playing field for only the highest-paying sites.

But Internet providers like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast are spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress to gut Net Neutrality. If Congress doesn't take action now to implement meaningful Net Neutrality provisions, the future of the Internet is at risk.
"

This information and much, much more comes from the FAQ page of SaveTheInternet.com, and if you are concerned about this...and we all should be...then you should go over and check out SaveTheInternet.com and get the scoop. Then contact your congressman and tell them what's what!

Podshow Number 41 - A Triple-Double

Wheeee! It's Friday! Awwright, I have to work this weekend, but what the hell...it's still Friday for somebody somewhere...

Cool show today - I've got 3 bands with 2 songs each. I think you're gonna like it.
Here's the skinny:
  • "Stroke It" and "Take Me Out" by The Drifting Flames
  • "When We're Through" and "Oh, No, it's OK" by Jack in the Pulpit (from their new upcoming CD, "Dissonance"... check their website for more information on the release party)
  • "Not Through With You" and "Better Off" by The Dents
Thanks to the Podsafe Music Network and the bands. Please visit their sites and show 'em some love. I'm off to pour myself a Guinness now. Catch ya later!
Cheers!

Podshow Number 40, except I called it Number 39...Duh.

OK, I'm an idiot. This is really show number 40, but I called it Number 39 in the recording, so I'll try to remember to name the next one Number 41. Whatevah.

This is also the first 'cast that I've uploaded to the Podshow.com hosting site, and I don't know how it will affect everything. I didn't want it to download twice, but so far, I'm not terribly happy with the other hosting, so I'm attaching the file here, too. Let me know if it comes to you twice, so I can fix it in the future. Thanks!
Anyway...
It is finally a beautiful day! The house is open and I'm feeling fine. Still ops-checking different software and hosting options, so if you have any comments on how the show sounds, please leave me comments on the blog at opinionatedramblings.com or use MyChingo to leave me a voicemail. MyChingo links can be found on the blog, too.
Let's get to the important stuff, shall we? Here is today's lineup:

Thanks to the bands and the Podsafe Music Network for providing the music on today's show, and thanks for joining me! Now, get outside and play, dammit!

Show Number 39 - Junior Mints #2

Hello, and Happy Saturday!
This is gonna be a quick show, just 2 tunes (but they both rock, don't you worry about that!!) and coming in at just under 10 minutes. Betcha didn't know I could talk this fast!
I'm trying out some different software today that is "time-limited," hence the short show, so shoot me a line and let me know how it sounds. If y'all think it works, I'll pony up the dough for a full working version.

Here is today's short but kickass playlist:
"Free Ride (in a Cop Car)" by The Clintons
"Unhappily Ever After" by American Heartbreak

Thanks go out to The Podsafe Music Network, The Clintons, and American Heartbreak. Please support these and other indie bands.

Until next time! Cheers!

Must Be Heaven

Can I just say that I am up waaaaayyyyyy past my bedtime because I am stuck here, glued to the TV watching the 25th Anniversary re-run of MTV's first day on-air (even though I'm trying to tape it as well anyway).

Thanks, VH-1 Classic, for replaying these great videos. I feel like I'm 16 again!

Cool!
